John Rutherford lives in Barnes Cove with his 8 year old son, Daniel. He is the National Program Manager for the National Guard Employment Support Program, which provides civilian job assistance to members of the National Guard, their family members and veterans. John served on active duty in the Air Force during the waning days of the Cold War. He is a former association executive with both state and local government experience, and is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin.
John moved to Nashville soon after graduating from the University of Tennessee-Martin, and has lived in the 31st Council District for 8 years. John wants to make a Nashville a better place to live for everyone.

-He is a published writer, having written over 100 articles of political commentary, investigative news and human interests, for over a dozen publications. He also authored the Introduction to the 2002 Barnes & Noble World Digital Library re-release of Aircraft in Warfare, the 1915 classic by F.W. Lanchester.
